Free Tipping: Flood of vehicles, but pace is fast.

There have been as many as 60 trucks in line to take advantage of Free Tipping today, but the pace may be even more than twice as fast.

Most of today's transports are smaller vehicles, and as many as three at a time can back in the transfer station shed and unload. Help is being provided to assist in offloading, bring the average time down to 2- minutes per load.



Doug Riley, Midwest's Transfer station manager said all vehicles in line and inside the gate at 12pmNoonCT, will be allowed to unload.

Magistrate Daryl Flatt has been at the transfer station today, as has Adair County Solid Waste Manager David Smith.

Free Tipping Day 2 - Even the dogs came out

Jake, Guy Babin's "somewhat inept yet handsome hound dog," as his owner describes him, was at Free Tipping Day 2, not so much to be of any help at all. He simply was looking for a little romance.

Former Magistrate Billy Rowe one of last of 350 at Free Tipping

Former magistrate and dairy farmer Billy Rowe was one of the last loads of the day. Everyone was inside the gate at the cutoff time of 12 noon. An estimated 350 vehicles went through in the day and half day. Our county is a lot cleaner today because of this most important program supported by our Adair County Fiscal Court and efforts of the Solid Waste Advisory Committee. - VICKY PIKE
