Kayla Styles named Women's Basketball National Player of Week

By Charles Balcom
Assistant Sports Information Director, Lindsey Wilson College

COLUMBIA, KY - Kayla Styles has been selected as the NAIA Division I Women's Basketball National Player of the Week, officials from the national office announced on Tuesday.

It marks the fifth time in program history a Blue Raider has received the national weekly award. Styles joins teammate Chanel Roberts as a fellow recipient after Roberts received the honor earlier this season.

The announcement comes after Styles' performance in No. 4-ranked Lindsey Wilson's 77-72 over No. 8-ranked Campbellsville (KY) last Thursday.

The junior forward from Louisville, Kentucky recorded her 10th double-double of the season to the tune of 23 points on 8-of-13 shooting with a game-high 14 rebounds, including five offensive boards. She stuffed the stat sheet with career highs in assists (6) and blocks (5), while adding one steal.

Styles has scored in double figures in 20 of the 21 games she has played in this year, including five games with over 20 points. Her 57.3 shooting percentage is the fifth best in NAIA Division I.

The victory helped the Blue Raiders improve to 23-0 overall and 9-0 in Mid-South Conference play.
