Kemnitz is Men's and Women's Swimming MSC Coach of the Year By Charles Balcom Kingsport, TN - Lindsey Wilson swim head coach Alicia Kemnitz has been named both the Mid-South Conference Men's and Women's Coach of the Year, conference officials announced on Wednesday night at the MSC Banquet held at the Marriott MeadowView Conference Resort & Convention Center. The announcement comes on the eve of the MSC Swimming Championships that are slated to begin on Thursday morning at the Kingsport Aquatic Center. Kemnitz earns her second MSC Coach of the Year honor on the men's side, previously earning the distinction in 2014-15, and her first award on the women's side. Kemnitz has led both the men and women's squads to top-10 national rankings throughout the duration of the season. The men's program has been ranked No. 8 all season long, while the women's program has been ranked No. 8 and No. 7, the No. 7 ranking matching the highest in program history. Lindsey Wilson's men's team holds a 6-3 dual record, including six-straight wins, and finished in the top three in both invitationals during the regular season. The women's team is 8-1 in duals this year and has won eight in a row, along with a pair of top-three finishes in invitationals including winning the LWC Fall Frenzy. Both programs have multiple swimmers listed among the top-10 fastest in their respective events, including a pair of top times on the women's side. The men's team has posted the eighth-fastest time in the NAIA or better in all five relay events, while the women are 10th or better in the relays. The Blue Raiders begin postseason competition on Thursday morning with the three-day MSC Championships. This story was posted on 2017-02-02 09:14:30
