Helen Luttrell, 79, Russell County, KY (1937-2017)

She was the matriarch of a large, respected South Central Kentucky family. She was a homemaker and attended the Church of God. She was a native of Casey County and her final resting place will be there. She was the daughter of the late Everett & Rena Pevley Stargle and the widow of Dennie E. Luttrell. She leaves 31 direct living descendants.

Helen Luttrell, 79, of Russell Springs, died Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at her home.

Funeral service for Helen Luttrell will be 1pmCT, Sunday, January 8, 2017 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel, 367 N Main Street, Russell Springs, KY, with Bro. Hershel Lawhorn officiating. Visitation will be 5pm-8pmCT, Saturday, January 7, 2017m, and after 10amCT Sunday. Interment in the South Fork Cemetery in Casey County, KY. Pallbearers: Jason Brown, Travis Brown, Josh Patterson Ryan Luttrell, Chris Roy, John Roy, Kyle Murphy, and Matthew Pike.

She was born August 29, 1937 in Casey County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Everett & Rena Pevley Stargle. She died Wednesday, January 4, 2017, in Russell Springs, Russell Co., KY, at the age of 79 years, four months, and six days.

She was a homemaker and attended the Church of God.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dennie E. Luttrell; four brothers, Herman, Leonard, David, & Jesse Stargle; and one sister, Ruth Huff.

Survivors include:
  • Eight children: Gerald (Alice) Luttrell, Russell Springs, KY; Cookie (Mike) Brown, Russell Springs, KY; Lilly (Alan) Patterson, Windsor, KY; Frankie (Tammy) Luttrell, Dunnville, KY; Lindy (Trent) Roy, Dunnville, KY; Birbby (Kenny) Murphy, Liberty, KY; Sally (Joel) Pike, Somerset, KY; Lucretia (Matthew) Jewell, Smith Grove, KY

  • Thirteen grandchildren

  • Ten great grandchildren

  • Two sisters: Dorothy Stargle, Windsor, KY; and Thelma Chansler, Windsor, KY
