Sen. Max Wise: Legislative update. Thanksgiving wishes Senator Wise notes Republican majorities in both houses. Sends thoughts for Thanksgiving. By State Senator Max Wise, (R-Campbellsville) 16th District: Adair, Clinton, Cumberland, McCreary, Russell, Taylor, and Wayne Counties The hustle and bustle of the winter holidays is underway and the cool crispness of the autumn air will soon turn towards winter frost. Even as the weather changes and the holiday season approaches, we are still busy in Frankfort with interim joint committee meetings, planning for the 2017 Session of the General Assembly. I am excited for what the New Year will bring for Kentucky. With a new Republican majority in the House, along with the steady Republican majority in the Senate and our Republican governor, we hope to successfully pass some of our legislative priorities that have, under Democratic House leadership, failed in the pass. Many of these measures aim to make Kentucky more business- and family-friendly. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the legislature to move Kentucky in the right direction. Many of you are just as excited as I am that election season is over and we can shift our daily focus this season to friends, family, and our communities. As we enjoy our Thanksgiving meals, let us not forgot those who do not have food on their table. Tis the season of giving; take this opportunity to donate your time and resources to a local food bank or shelter, and bring your family there with you. We also must not forget our service men and women, who are spending their holidays separated from their families--some as far away as the other side of the world. Keep these families in your prayers, and offer them all the support you can. We live in trying times, but there is nothing a close-knit community cannot overcome together. I wish you a safe and happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy your friends, family, and football. God Bless! This story was posted on 2016-11-20 08:01:14
