Bank Barn at HGR restoration takes giant leap forward

Click on headline for introduction with photo(s)

By George Kolbenschlag

The long planned restoration of the 1860s bank barn at Homeplace on Green River has taken a major step forward. Much of the work done this past year has been internal structure strengthening which is not very obvious.

That changed this past week when Eddie Cowherd Building, Green County, replaced much of the wooden siding on the barn and is presently replacing the damaged flooring.

The barn is one of several buildings at Homeplace undergoing restoration. Homeplace, "Kentucky's Outdoor Classroom" is located between Columbia and Campbellsville at 5807 New Columbia Road (Kentucky Highway 55).

It's open during the day. for hiking, picnicking, taking photos and just enjoying the outdoors. The buildings are not yet open except for scheduled events.
