CHS students place high in AP course tests Click on headline for complete story, photo(s) By Calen McKinney, Public Information Officer Campbellsville Independent Schools (CIS) When taking an AP exam, students are given a score from 1 to 5, with the scores 3, 4 and 5 being those scores that likely qualify for college credit. Last school year, 59 students at CHS took AP courses. Those 59 students took a total of 96 exams at the end of those courses. Students receiving scores of 3, 4 or 5 are as follow: English literature and composition - Blair Lamb, 4; Laura Lamb, 4; Murphy Lamb, 3; and Caroline McMahan, 4. English language and composition - Sara Farmer, 3; Samuel Kessler, 4; and Bryce Richardson, 5. Human geography - Alex Doss, 3. U.S. government and politics - Samuel Kessler, 3; Bryce Richardson, 3. U.S. history - Blair Lamb, 4; Laura Lamb, 3; and Murphy Lamb, 3. The majority of the other CHS students who took AP exams received a score of 2, which, depending on the college and/or university, could also qualify for college credit. This school year, many more CHS students are taking AP courses, thanks to a partnership with AdvanceKentucky. CHS formed a partnership with AdvanceKentucky last school year to expand its lineup of AP course offerings. And, as a result, students who take the courses and then pass the subsequent exams will receive cash rewards for doing so. CHS is the only school in Taylor County to have such a partnership with AdvanceKentucky. According to an AdvanceKentucky news release, CHS is one of eight public high schools invited to participate in the newest cohort. At CHS, about 100 of the nearly 300 students are enrolled in at least one AP course. This story was posted on 2016-09-07 01:52:08
