LWC Volleyball travels to Cumberland Tuesday night By Matt Wurzburger The third-ranked Lindsey Wilson volleyball team faces Cumberland (Tenn.) on the road Tuesday night in a Mid-South Conference matchup in Lebanon, Tenn. Lindsey Wilson (9-0, 1-0 MSC) returns to action after a 10-day break. The Blue Raiders last played on Aug. 27, when they won both matches on the second day of the Lindsey Wilson Invitational - defeating No. 23 Indiana Wesleyan and Asbury (Ky.). Lindsey Wilson went 4-0 at the invitational to extend their home winning streak to a program-record 40 consecutive matches. A potent offense carried the Blue Raiders through the tournament as Lindsey Wilson never hit below .270 in their four matches. The Blue Raiders currently rank second in the NAIA in kills per game (14.640) and third in hitting percentage (.312). Lindsey Wilson's defense has been equally stout - ranking seventh in the NAIA in blocks per game at 2.57. The Blue Raiders led the Lindsey Wilson Invitational in both total blocks (27) and blocks per set (2.3). Grace Blomstedt led Lindsey Wilson's defense with 12 total blocks over the invitational. Cumberland enters Tuesday with an 8-5 record, including a 0-1 mark in-conference. The Phoenix are coming off a 2-2 weekend at the UNOH Silver Spike Classic in Lima, Ohio. Cumberland attended the Lindsey Wilson Classic on Aug. 19-20 going 3-1, but the Phoenix did not face the Blue Raiders. The Phoenix are led by Maci Lerno's 137 kills and 15 service aces. Cumberland is attacking at a .207 clip for the season but are holding opponents to a .145 hitting percentage. Lindsey Wilson went 2-0 against Cumberland last season and did not drop a set to the Phoenix. The Blue Raiders have won 13-consecutive matches against Cumberland dating back to the 2011 season.
