Mrs. Carter was a homemaker and a wonderful loving mother and grandmother to all. She had attended the White Oak Baptist Church. She was a native of Adair County, KY, the daughter of the late Ben and Perlie Mae Conover. She was the widow of Achhilles Washington Carter. She leaves 47 direct living descendants spanning four generations

Sarah Evelyn Conover Carter age 86 years formerly of Columbia & Russell Springs passed away Wednesday July 27, 2016 at 6:23 PM at the Medical Center at Bowling Green in Bowling Green, KY after several months illness.

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 2pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY, with Bro. Robert Knight and Bro. Richie Curtis the officiating clergy. Interment will be in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Russell County, KY. The family requests visiting after 9:30amCT, on Saturday at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home



Sarah Evelyn Conover Carter, 86, Adair Co., KY (1930-2016)


She was born November 25, 1930 in Adair County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Ben and Perlie Mae Conover. She died Wednesday, July 27, 2016, in Bowling Green, Warren County, KY, at the age of 86 years, eight months, and two days.

She was the widow of Achilles Washington Carter, who preceded her in death on May 9, 1976, and by two sons, Ray Carter and Rhuie Carter; and by two sisters Myrtle Grider and Maude Powell.

Mrs. Carter is survived by the following:
  • Two sons: Achilles "Bo" Carter and wife Sheila of Somerset, KY; and Ronnie Carter of Russell Springs, KY

  • Four daughters: Jackie Adamson and husband Waldo of Russell Springs, KY ; Jo Schorman and husband David of Russell Springs, KY; Jerri Evelyn Bunch and husband Randall of Jamestown, KY; and Judy Neal and husband Rick of Pine Knot, KY

  • Twenty grandchildren

  • Eighteen great grandchildren

  • Three great great grandchildren
Mrs. Carter was a homemaker and a wonderful loving mother and grandmother to all. She had attended the White Oak Baptist Church.
