Last night I had the privilege of attending the first Lake Cumberland Area Technology Center and Adair County High School Pinning Ceremony for the Medicaid Nurse Aid Class of 2016. It was extremely heartfelt and touching.

The Keynote Address was given by Mrs. Nikki Loy, and she discussed the meaning of the pin, its origins and evolution through time.

But then talked about what the pin actually represented to her. I was truly touched. She spoke of her three C's Caring, Compassion, and Competence. She said "I will care for you, I will Care for you with Compassion, I will Care for you with Compassion applying my knowledge and skills with Competence."

The pin recipients were all ears as she spoke and soaked up every word. The first ever Medicaid Nurse Aid Class of 2016 includes Kaitlyn Bryant, Shelby Conley, Haley Cromell, Courtney Keezer, Kelsie Keltner, Desiny Kinnett, Taylor Lawhorn, Makayla Mathews, Trishana Morris, Cara Murrell, Kayla Parnell Cassie Rowlett, Kassidy Roy, and Makaylee Ward.

Family and friends of the young ladies were present as well as Superintendent Reed, who spoke to the ladies about his and the school boards pride in seeing the first pinning ceremony taking place, bringing their dream of Career Ready health professionals into a reality. Adair County School Board Chairman, Floyd Burton, and member Quinn Lasley attended the event to provide support and congratulations to the recipients.

Overall, it was a wonderful heartwarming evening, spent with family and friends, celebrating not only these young ladies accomplishment but their dedication to the medical profession.

We know they will be caring compassionately for those in need, with competent skills which will enable them to provide high quality care to their future patients.

The Adair County Schools can only say with pride in our voice, we could not be prouder of these young ladies and how they have represented our district while they were completing their clinicals in the community and their dedication to a profession that can only be explained as selfless.
