PAC has volunteer-validated needed signatures; now in fluff zone

By Ed Waggener

"We've entered the 'fluff' zone!" Shannon Sexton, chair of PAC - Progress in Adair County, the organization promoting a Wet/Dry vote - wrote this morning at 11:56amCT. "Busy day at PAC collecting signatures and double checking those we already have."

Contacted by phone, Sexton said that she does, indeed already have the 1,039 validated signatures needed to get the question on the ballot at a special election. The "fluff" she said, would be a cushion of 100 or more signatures.

She said that she believes the PAC volunteer-validated signatures she turns in will be also be validated 100% by Clerk's Office. The clerk may validate some more of the signatures than PAC is able to do, Sexton said.

Volunteers at PAC are working today - possibly as long as through Monday, January 25, 2016, she said, adding, "We encourage anyone that's not signed yet to please do so today if possible." At the point she feels totally confident that there are enough names to meet requirements, the signature phase will over, she said.

PAC is located at 830 Jamestown Street, Columbia, KY.
