Stolen vehicle investigation ends in foot chase

34 year old Columbia, KY woman abandons car, flees on foot, but is apprehended and arrested on multiple charges, lodged in Adair County Regional Jail.

News from the Adair County Sheriff's Office

On January 1, 2015 The Adair Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a stolen vehicle on Knifley Road HWY 551 shortly after 6amCT.

After speaking with victim and obtaining a description of the vehicle Deputies located a vehicle matching the description traveling on HWY 551 and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.



The operator Alison Rice, 34, of Columbia attempted to evade deputies but could not, eventually abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot before being apprehended.

Rice faces multiple charges including theft my unlawful taking; automobile, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, fleeing and evading 1st, fleeing and evading 2nd, reckless driving, disorderly conduct 2nd, menacing, resisting arrest, and disarming a peace officer.

Rice was lodged in the Adair County Jail. Deputy Josh Durbin was the arresting officer.

He was assisted by Deputy Aaron Rainwater.

Issuance of warrants and/or arrests are not findings of guilt. An individual charged by police or in a warrant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty at some later criminal proceeding.
