Richard Finley Duncan, 75, Edmonton, KY (1940-2015)

He was a member of a venerated old-line Metcalfe County, KY, family. He was the owner and operator of Duncan Life and health Insurance Company, Edmonton, KY. He was deacon at the Edmonton Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Richard Duncan was one of the founders of the Barnlot Theatre and rendered some of the most memorable performances there.

Richard Finley Duncan age 75 of Edmonton died Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at his home.

Funeral services will be held 2pmCT, Saturday, November 28, 2015, at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, with entombment in the Edmonton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, Friday, November 27, 2015, and after 9amCT, Saturday at the funeral home.



Richard Finley Duncan, 75, Edmonton, KY (1940-2015)


He was the son of the late Archie Hayes and Kizzie James Bell Duncan. He was born July 9, 1940. He died Wednesday, November 25, 2015, in Edmonton, Metcalfe County, KY, at the age of 75 years, four months, and 16 days.

Richard was a member and deacon of the Edmonton Baptist Church, and owner and operator of Duncan Life and Health Insurance Company in Edmonton. He was a US Army veteran and one of the founders of Barnlot Theatre in Edmonton.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette VanZant Duncan, and the following:
  • Two daughters: Gina Gibson and husband, Dave, of Edmonton, KY; and Ellen Gregory and husband Eric of Midway, KY

  • Five grandchildren: Russell Dean and Valorie Jeanette Gibson. Virginia Grace, Duncan Wayne and Sarah James Gregory
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Curt Duncan.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Edmonton Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
