National Office Furniture to create 40 New Jobs in Danville Governor Beshear makes announcement of new employment opportunities in one hour commute of less from much of Adair County. Company plans $530,000 investment in new equipment Click on headline for complete story By Jack Muzurak From Governor Steve Beshear's Communications Office FRANKFORT, KY - (18 Nov 2015) - National Office Furniture Inc., a subsidiary of Kimball International Inc. (NASDAQ: KBAL), which designs and manufactures office furniture, will invest $530,000 in its Danville facility, Gov. Steve Beshear announced today. The investment will create 40 jobs and increase the location's production capabilities. "Kimball has been producing quality furnishings at its Danville facility for more than 15 years, and I'm glad to see the company's footprint in Kentucky continue to grow," said Gov. Beshear. "Nearly anyone using offices, meeting rooms, hotels, health-care settings, libraries, lounges or study areas has worked from and appreciated Kimball's products. It is great to know that Kimball will add to its Boyle County workforce and production with this latest announcement." Kimball's investment comes in response to increased sales of its National Office Furniture and Kimball Office brands. The company also notes that market demand for its new lounge product series - including Fringe(TM), Villa(TM), Pairings(TM), Boyd(R), Confide(R), Reno(R) Enhancements and Dwell(TM) - led to the need for equipment upgrades and a boost in employment. "National Office Furniture's Danville manufacturing location has been an important part of Kimball International since the acquisition of the Danville facility in 1999. The facility has grown from under 70 employees to 190, and we expect this number to increase significantly in the next year," said Kevin McCoy, president of National Office Furniture. "The Danville facility has experienced double-digit growth over the past five years, taking advantage of market trends and strong new product development. National Office Furniture sets best practices within the industry; continuously improving through our operational excellence; and excelling at providing a positive impact through community development, community outreach and workforce planning. National Office Furniture thrives and continues to attract further business and employees to the furniture market, fostering a positive impact and culture through its core values and principles. Kimball International earned the Great Place to Work(R) designation in 2015, a recognition based on employee survey responses regarding the organizational culture." In addition to its Danville location, the company maintains an operation in Fordsville. Parent company Kimball International, based in Jasper, Indiana, operates 17 U.S. production facilities across Indiana, Kentucky, Indiana, Idaho and Virginia. To encourage the investment and job growth in the community, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority preliminarily approved the company for tax incentives up to $500,000 through the Kentucky Business Investment program. The performance-based incentive allows the company to keep a portion of its investment over the agreement term through corporate income tax credits and wage assessments by meeting job and investment targets. In addition, Kimball is eligible to receive resources from the Kentucky Skills Network. Through the Kentucky Skills Network, companies are eligible to receive no-cost recruitment and job placement services, reduced-cost customized training and job training incentives. Last year, the Kentucky Skills Network trained more than 84,000 employees from more than 5,600 Kentucky companies.
