Pahkasalo named Academic All-America By Charlie Balcom Lindsey Wilson men's soccer student-athlete Aleksi Pahkasalo has been named the 2015 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) College Division Academic All-America of the Year. In addition to earning Academic All-America of the Year honors, Pahkasalo was also selected to the College Division First Team, along with 10 other student-athletes from across the NAIA. It marks the second-straight season that Pahkasalo has picked up team honors, as he previously earned College Division Second Team honors last season. In the classroom, Pahkasalo is a recreation/tourism and sport management major and holds a perfect 4.0 grade point average. The midfielder from Vantaa, Finland was voted the Mid-South Conference Player of the Year earlier this season and has helped lead Lindsey Wilson to a 14-5-1 record in 2015. He leads the Blue Raiders in goals (24), assists (8), points (56), shots (111), and shots on goal (53). His total goals and total points are both the second most in the NAIA. Pahkasalo earned All-MSC First Team honors for the second time in his career this season. The CoSIDA Academic All-America College Division soccer teams are comprised of student-athletes from NAIA, Canadian and two-year institutions. In order to be nominated, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
