Soccer: CU men/women soccer to host NAIA Opening Rounds

Four of 31 First Round opening matches will be played less than 20 miles apart at Blue Raider Stadium in Columbia and Finley Stadium in Campbellville, KY

KANSAS CITY, MO - For the first time in programs history, Campbellsville men's and women's soccer is heading to the NAIA National Tournament. Both teams are hosting the Opening Round at Campbellsville's Finley Stadium, 204 Tiger Way, Campbellsville, KY on Saturday, November 21, 2015, with the Lady Tigers vs. Ashford at 3pmCT/4pmET, and the CU Tigers hosting West Virginia Tech at 6pmCT/7pmET.


This year's field includes 24 automatic qualifiers and eight at-large selections for the men's tournament and seven at-large bids for the women's - University of Mobile gets an automatic bid by hosting the women's tournament. Automatic berths were given to teams that either won their respective conference tournament title, regular-season championship or finished runner-up during the regular season or at the conference tournament. The at-large bids were determined by the final Modified Ratings Percentage Index (MRPI) announced Monday afternoon.

The Lady Tigers received the NAIA's sixth at-large selection and will be the 13-seed as they finished No. 13 in the MRPI. CU will host Ashford University (14-4-1), who won the Association of Independent Institutions Tournament Championship to gain their automatic bid. The Saints finished as No. 31 in the MRPI and are making their third appearance and first since 2012.
