V. Kolbenschlag: Shabby campus turned into source of pride How can we entice good paying jobs to a community when we show such disregard for education of students? - VONNIE KOLBENSCHLAG Click on headline for complete story By Vonnie Kolbenschlag Personal Commentary Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Mike Harris and Floyd Burton for your wise vote to renew Mr. Reed's contract. I have no children in our school system, but I have seen a shabby looking school campus turned into something to be proud of and I know this reflects on learning - which is what schools are about. I have seen new opportunities for students. I can only think that since a superintendents's position is one of the most important jobs in a county, school board members get some sort of a power thrill by not renewing a contract. How can we entice good paying jobs to a community when we show such disregard for education of students? To my way of thinking, one of the best uses of tax money is to improve education that impacts children's futures. As I wrote above, I have no children in Adair County Schools, but I am glad some of my taxes go toward education. How short sighted some board members are!!! - Vonnie Kolbenschlag This story was posted on 2015-09-18 11:59:05
