1 Graf Editorial: The need for crosswalks - protect LWC students

Walking Columbia

Only those walking Columbia really see urgent needs. Linda and I were out Sunday and noticed a problem which should be immediately addressed. Two young women, who appeared to be Lindsey Wilson College students, were trying to reach Miller Avenue from the sidewalk on Jamestown Street. They waited a good five minutes. Finally, they dashed across the road. They made it. But if either had stumbled or tripped in the heavy traffic, a tragedy might have ensued. Point is, this is just one of perhaps dozens or a hundred or more situations where well marked crosswalks should be a part of the Columbia scene. I, for one, can't wait until those who are walking Columbia share their observations. - ED WAGGENER
