Homeplace will be alive with music September 12, 2015 Music programs at the Homeplace on Green River Fall Heritage Festival, will begin at 9:30amCT/10:30amET, last performance starts at 2pmCT/3pmET, at the Homeplace, 5807 New Columbia Road, Campbellsville, KY By George Kolbenschlag The sounds of music can be heard all day at the Homeplace on Green River Fall Heritage Festival September 12. Six music groups and individuals will perform at the festival music tent beginning at 9:30amCT/10:30amET and continuing until 4pmCT. Included will be two professionally trained vocalists singing selections from Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals. Voices of Praise at 9:30amCT/10:30amET The Voices of Praise, a group familiar to many, will open the day's music at 9:30amCT/10:30amET. They have been part of the Homeplace fall festival for at least the past four years. Formed in 2007 at the Pleasant Run Baptist Church in Green County, the Voices formed based on a vision of the late Sister Barbara Johnson of the Zion District Women's Educational Institute. One year later they had grown to a 100 man gospel singing chorus. Today they are much smaller in number, but arestill raising their voices in praise of the Lord. Exie Boys at 10amCT/11amET Another long-time group of festival musicians, The Exie Bluegrass Boys will follow at . The group features the members of the Curry Family, born and raised in the community of Exie in Green County. They play traditional bluegrass and bluegrass gospel. Their music makes good use of guitar, mandolin, banjo, fiddle and base. Some of the instruments they have made themselves. The Exie Boys have performed at the festival for the past four years. Stephanie Archey and Maggie Coleman at 11amCT/12pmET Beginning at Noon it will be showtime at Homeplace with Adair Countians Stephanie Archey and Maggie Coleman singing tunes from Rodgers and Hammerstein's musicals including The Sound of Music, South Pacific, Carousel, Oklahoma and the King and I. The singers are familiar to the many local folks who watched them sing the two female leads--Maggie as Maria and Stephanie as the Mother Abbess--in The Sound of Music at Lindsey Wilson College's TheaterFest production in July 2014. Both are classically trained sopranos and have a long history of singing in stage productions. They are enthusiastic, talented and fun to watch and hear. This is their first year performing at the Festival. Carousel Stampede Band at 12pmCT/1pmET Beginning at 1pmCT The Carousel Stampede Band, a group of "three old friends who love to get together, play music and have fun" will be rocking the music tent beginning at 1:00. Easton Bryant, Neil Goodin and Nick Kemp play many types of music and like to mix it up. This is their first year at the festival. Dick Scholl 1pmCT/2pmET Dick Scholl will perform at 2pmCT. He has been singing in public since he was "a little boy," and he's always enjoyed entertaining. He sings in a church choir and praise team and is often asked to do solos. He also sings at Elder Care in Columbia and has performed at a gospel fest in St. Petersburg, Florida. He loves to do karaoke whenever he gets a chance and does Elvis gigs on occasion. This will be Dick first year performing at the festival. Chris Anderson, Richie Gatti, and Tony Ford 2pmCT/3pmET Closing the day's music beginning at 3:00 are Chris Anderson, Richie Gatti and Tony Ford. Chris Anderson, a local singer/songwriter, has been performing praise and bluegrass music for 25 years. Chris places emphasis on the positives in life. This will be his second year as a festival performer, but Chris has also provided the Mayfield Ice Cream at the festival for the past several years and will be there this year when he's not singing.
