Traffic Advisory: Delays, US 31W In Southern Hardin County

By Chris Jessie, Public Information Officer
Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, District 4, Elizabethtown, KY

Today, Tuesday, August 18, 2015, temporary signals and barrier wall will be installed on the US 31W Bridge over I-65 between Upton and Sonora at the Hardin/LaRue County Line. The structure is being rebuilt as part of the I65 road widening project. One lane will remain open through the duration of the bridge rebuild. Delays will be possible at this location, especially during peak travel hours.

The bridge project is expected to take approximately 3-4 months for completion. Weather will be a factor in the pace of progress.

Due to the significance of the route, it was stipulated during the planning stage of the project that work on the US 31W bridge could not begin until other area bridge rebuilds over I65 were fully open to traffic.

KYTC continues to work with contractors and local emergency response agencies to ensure that impacts are reduced as much as possible when I65 closures occur due to incidents.
