G & G Motors, 1122 Campbellsville Road, Columbia, KY, was the low bidder and the winning bidder to supply a new 85 HP, 4 Wheel Drive, Mahindra Tractor with a bid of $29,650.00, when bids were opened this morning, Friday, July 24, 2015, at a special called meeting of the Adair County Fiscal Court.

Adair County Magistrate Sammy Baker (District 3) moved for the purchase, with a second by Gregg Caldwell (District 6) , with Magistrates Daryl Flatt (2), Harold Burton (1), and Terry Hadley (7), and Billy Dean Coffey (5) joining Judge Executive Michael Lee Stephens for a 7-0 vote. Magistrate Perry Reeder (4), was not present.

Other bidders were Hobdy, Dye, and Read, Columbia, KY; Wayne Supply Company; John Deere of Campbellsville, KY.

While Mahindra tractors are new to the area, the biggest reason, in addition to the lowest price, was the reputation of Charles Giles, co-owner with Chaz Giles of the dealership. Magistrate Baker said, "You can't beat the service," a sentiment echoed by Greg Caldwell, who amenned, "Hands down."

Payment for the tractor will come either from the county's LGEA fund by transfer into the Road Fund, or directly from the road fund.

Adair County Judge Jennifer Hutchison-Corbin told Judge Stephens that because the method of payment was not on the agenda, that detail would have to be considered at a later meeting.

Magistrate Sammy Baker reminded the court of an earlier attempt to fix a tractor last year. "I wish we had known we could get a new tractor for this price when we voted to repair one and it costs us over $8,000.00."

Mahindra is the world's large tractor manufacturer.

Besides the aforemention, the meeting was attended by Deputy Judge Holly Grimsley, County Finance Officer Gale Cowan, acting as recorder; and media representatives.
