Two separate crashes on I-65 at MM 102 involve multiple vehicle Jared Newberry, Public Affairs Officer Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Region 2 Louisville, KY LEBANON, KY (Thu 28 May 2015) - Kentucky State Police CVE Division Post 4 Elizabethtown was notified of multiple commercial vehicles involved in a crash near the 102 mile point of I-65 south around 3:58pmET yesterday. According to the preliminary report, there were two separate crashes located approximately 50 yards apart. The first crash involved three commercial vehicles and a single passenger car. No injuries were reported from the initial crash. All vehicles were towed from the scene and a large amount of diesel was spilled onto the roadway. The secondary collision involved three commercial vehicles and a single passenger car. Two of the drivers from the commercial vehicles were trapped and were freed by Fire/EMS crews. Both CMV operators were transported from the scene and are currently being treated at the University of Louisville Hospital with the condition ranging from stable to critical. Interstate 65 southbound remained closed until 10:30pmET, until crews could contain the diesel spills and remove the vehicles from the roadway. The accident remains under investigation by Officer Michael Moritz with assistance from Sgt. Scott Koch, Officer Newberry, and Post 4. Scene mitigation assistance was provided by Lebanon Junction Fire Dept, Hardin Fire Dept, Bullitt County Sheriff's Office, KY Dept of Emergency Management, and KY Transportation Cabinet.
