JoAnne Havens, Center, KY (d. 26 May 2015)

She was a native of Arkansas, spent her teen years in Southern California, and moved to Center, Metcalfe County, KY in 1986. She loved to spend her free time gardening, but her greatest joy was spending time celebrating various milestones with her family and friends, who quickly became extended family. Parties on the Havens' deck were joyous times and a testimony to Al and JoAnnes love for family, fun, and a "haven" of great memories to last a lifetime. She is the widow of Elmer (Al) Havens. She leaves 35 direct living descendants.

JoAnne Havens of Center, KY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 26, 2015.

Visitation will be held at Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, on Thursday, May 28, 2015, from 4pm-8pmCT. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 29, 2015, at at Our Lady of the Caves Catholic Church, on route 31W in Horse Cave, KY.



She was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas and spent her teen years in Southern California. On September 17, 1949 she married Elmer Havens and they moved to Brooklyn, NY.

In the fall of 1986 they moved to Center, Kentucky. JoAnne loved to spend her free time gardening, but her greatest joy was spending time celebrating various milestones with her family and friends, who quickly became extended family. Parties on the Havens' deck were joyous times and a testimony to Al and JoAnnes love for family, fun, and a "haven" of great memories to last a lifetime.

JoAnne is survived by the following:
  • Her children: Rev. James Havens, Carin Havens, Dolores and Lou Alcuri, Dianne and John Johnson, Brian and Diane Havens, Muriel and Tom Carmichael, Larry and Maryann Havens
  • Twelve grandchildren
  • Seventeen great grandchildren
JoAnne was preceded in death by her husband Elmer (Al) Havens and their son Dennis Havens.

Butler Funeral Home, 201 East Street, Edmonton, KY, in charge of arrangements.
