Jon Halsey: No need for employees to go without checks

By Jon Halsey
Personal Commentary of the writer

Small Town politics never cease to amaze me.

Contrary to the "scare tactics" being pushed from one corner, there is and was no need for City employees to do without their checks on Friday. If there was no appeal, the City Council had 30 days to appoint a new Mayor.

One day for public notice would have been all that was required to convene a special called meeting to name Hardwick, or anyne else, as interim mayor and every thing would have chugged along until the November election.

The whole debacle is reminiscent of the hospital fiasco. Until individuals charged with oversight learn what their job is and perform that job with due diligence to insure that all aspects are being performed as required, the citizens of Adair will continue to be faced with "paying the piper" for not being involved enough to demand that government operates as it should.

A noted politician recently remarked: "Elections matter." Hopefully that lesson will soon be learned.
