Motorcycles collide on New Columbia Road, Campbellsville, KY

Collision occurs 7 miles south of Campbellsville, KY, approximately 10 miles north of Columbia. Both riders from Greensburg, KY. One rider treated at Taylor Regional Hospital, the other was uninjured. Both were wearing helmets. Both motorcyles remained operational.

Two motorcycles, traveling together in the same direction on KY 55/New Columbia Road, 7 miles south of Campbellsville, KY collided Saturday afternoon at around 4:20pmET, resulting in injuries to one rider.



The collision occurred when Joel Bennett, 56, McKinney Street, Greensburg, KY, who was riding a 2006 Kawasaki motorcycle, slowed to make a left turn onto a side road and John Pierce, 45, Park Avenue, Greensburg, KY, 2002 Yamaha motorcylce, did not see the turn signal nor realize Bennett was going to turn, struck Bennett's vehicle from the rear.

Pierce lost control and the motorcycle went down on the pavement, injuring Pierce's leg in the process.

Pierce was taken to the Taylor County Regional Hospital, Campbellsville, KY, via ambulance, where he was treated for leg injuries.

Both parties were wearing helmets at the time of the accident and both vehicles remained operational.

The incident was investigated by TCSO Deputy Ricky Underwood.
