LWC Soccer vs/ Cumberland in NAIA Championship Quarterfinals Tonight's match marks the sixth all-time postseason meeting between the two programs By Matthew Stokes News from Lindsey Wilson College COLUMBIA, KY - The sixth-seeded Lindsey Wilson women's soccer team plays third-seeded Cumberland (TN) at 6:30pmCT on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at the Orange Beach Sportsplex, 4389 William Silvers Parkway, Orange Beach, AL 36561, as part of the NAIA National Championship Quarterfinals. The Blue Raiders (15-3-3) progressed through the National Championship Second Round after winning by a 5-1 margin against 11th-seeded Mobile (AL) on Tuesday, December 2, 2014. Playing in the match immediately before Lindsey Wilson and Mobile, the Bulldogs (17-3-1) prevailed, 1-0, over 14th-seeded Concordia (CA) on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, to advance to the quarterfinal round for the first time in program history. Including three Mid-South Conference Tournament matches, the third-ranked Blue Raiders have scored 39 goals total in five postseason matches. In addition to scoring no fewer than four goals in each of those matches, Lindsey Wilson has only allowed only a pair of goals. For 11th-ranked Cumberland, the postseason, including the MSC Tournament, has seen the Bulldogs shut out four-of-five opponents. In a pair of meetings this fall, the Blue Raiders won both times against Cumberland. Playing in rescheduled match on Monday, October 27, 2014, Lindsey Wilson traveled to Lebanon, Tennessee, and defeated then-No. 1 Cumberland, 6-1, to seize the MSC regular-season title. Only 18 days later on Friday, November 14, 2014, the Blue Raiders won a neutral-site match, 5-1, against the Bulldogs to claim the MSC Tournament Championship. Lindsey Wilson holds a 10-3-0 all-time record against Cumberland, including a 4-1-0 mark in postseason competition. The Blue Raiders and Bulldogs have met twice in NAIA Regional Tournament play and three times in MSC Tournament Championship matches. The winner of tonight's match advances to the National Championship Semifinals to face the winner of the match between 10th-seeded Martin Methodist (TN) and 15th-seeded Northwood (FL). Martin Methodist and Northwood play at 4:00pmCT this afternoon. This story was posted on 2014-12-03 13:52:07
