Billy Joe Fudge: Comment on waxing, waning crescent moons Aka 'Thumbnail Moons" Billy Joe Fudge writes: And I might add either the Waxing Crescent Moon seen in early evening and the Waning Crescent Moon seen in early morning are referred to in many circles as a "thumbnail moon." For those who have forgotten or have never bothered to learn, a Waxing Moon is merely the position of the Moon that is causing it to increase in lighted area each evening as seen from the Earth and a Waning Moon is when the Moon is in a position where the Moon is decreasing in lighted area each day. --Comments re photo 57757 Crescent moon 24 Nov 2014 This story was posted on 2014-11-25 07:47:37
