Rickie Williams: Understands about absences for death, illness

I have had to miss for family deaths before . . . but at the same time I must say that I felt awful not being with students I signed up to teach. - Rickie Williams
Comments re article 71357 Courtney Foster We love our ACHS teachers

By Rickie Williams

Thanks to Courtney Foster voicing her support for the instructors whose care she has experienced. Too many students these days care very little about anything except for staring at their phones. This particular student cared enough for her instructors to state her thoughts.

I will take my licks and call a truce. Teachers with kids, deaths in the family, etc are all understandable reasons for missing school. I have had to miss for family deaths before . . . but at the same time I must say that I felt awful not being with students I signed up to teach.

Everyone has different rankings on the importance of certain things. I will admit that I take an extreme position on my idea of being at work. The kids I teach take a very high place on the totem pole of my priorities.

I still hope that anyone teaching will truly consider the three questions I posed at the end of my first note.

Once again...congratulations are in order for the maintenance staff and their excellent attendance rate! - Rickie Williams
