Do you remember the days when folks used to go to town on Saturday, shop, have lunch, visit with friends? Of course you do! It happened just yesterday!

It seems that everyone was at the Farmer's Market on the Square on Saturday October 25, 2014. Some to stock up on the very last of the season tomatoes, some to buy a few extra loaves of bread to put in the freezer for a special winter treat, some even getting a head start on Christmas gift buying but all of them were there to say "see you later" to what has become THE place to be on Saturdays mornings in Columbia - the Farmer's Market on the Square".

Coming to the end of our second season I am convinced that there's magic here. The market has taken on a life of its own and I'm thrilled to watch it grow. I'm told that there are more folks on the square on Saturday mornings now than we've seen in 30 years and it's all been created with your help. The members of the Farmer's Market on the Square Association thank you for your support.

We will all be back very soon. Our 2015 Opening Day has already been set for Saturday April 4, 2015 so mark your calendars. FM2 will coming back with more of everything - I think that you will be amazed!

Thank you again from all of us at FM2.

Barbara Armitage, Market Coordinator

Soft skills 101 - Just visit the Farmers Market on the Square

Wayne Armitage at Tucker's Station Farms, beside the latest banner for the he and Barbara Armitage's very popular "store." The banner now features the beautiful i-Frame house on Bull Run Road which the Armitages have restored. Wayne is a favorite with the market customers. He's sticks to business, but he also has time to tell people about TSF products as well as his specialty, Heavenly Homstead Cheese. He has most of the answers about the wide variety of cheeses he sells - and he's candid about whether he likes them or not. Importantly, when he doesn't have the answer, he almost always knows where to go for the answer. It was the last day of the season at Farmers Market on the Square until the first Saturday in April 2015 or so the plans go now, leaving a lot of the thousands who visited the market this summer anxious for that day. - (c) CM

Downtown Columbia, KY: A stroll on FM2 Boulevard

The Good Old Days aren't gone The Farmer's Market on the Square is a relaxing place to shop or to just hang out. Some folks prefer to sit in the cool shade of the hostility tent while other love to gather "on the boulevard" while they catch up on the day's events or to just visit with old friends. It was a good place to hang out with your dog, if you're like market regular Wendy Burt, foreground; or to see the people if you are a candidate, as Lisa Greer and Daryl Flatt, could do if they were politicking yesterday. They are both market regulars.
