LWC Football moves up to No. 20 in latest NAIA Top 25 Poll

By Charles Balcom
News from Lindsey Wilson College

COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson football team moved up two spots to No. 20 in the latest edition of the NAIA Football Coaches' Top 25 Poll, the national office announced on Monday, 6 Oct 2014. The Blue Raiders received 95 total voting points from the panel of national raters.

The move back into the top 20 comes two days after the Blue Raiders were able to hold on to defeat Cumberlands (KY) 31-28 at Blue Raider Stadium.

Trailing by three points, the Patriots had the ball at midfield with less than 30 seconds to play when Jordan Elery intercepted a deep pass attempt to seal the win for Lindsey Wilson.

The Blue Raiders are now 4-2 on the year and sit alone atop the Mid-South Conference East standings with a 2-0 record.

Joining Lindsey Wilson in the top 25 from the MSC are No. 3 Georgetown (KY), No. 9 Faulkner (AL), No. 12 Cumberland (TN) and No. 25 Kentucky Christian.

Morningside (Iowa) continues their hold on the No. 1 spot with 340 points and 14 first-place votes. Baker (KS) is second with 327 points and the final first-place vote followed by Georgetown at No. 3.
