Elsie Marie Lile Matney, Green County, KY (1923-2014)

She was a member of a large, respected Green County family. She was a native of Green County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Tony Lile and Louella Curry Lile and the widow of Johnnie W. Matney. She leaves 23 direct living descendants. Mrs. Matney had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Protestant Faith. She was a homemaker.

Elsie Marie Lile Matney, 91, departed this life Saturday, September 27, 2014 at her home in the Exie Community of Green County, KY.

Funeral services will be at 1pmCT, Monday, September 29, 2014, at the Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home, 209 W Court Street, Greensburg, KY, with Bro. Joseph Wilcoxson the officiating clergy. Interment will be in the Lee Cemetery in the Exie Community of Green County. Visitation was 5pm-8pmCT, Sunday, 28 Sep, 2014 and will continue after 7amCT, Monday, at the funeral home.



Pallbearers: Marty Matney, Tony Matney Jr., Ronald Matney, Josh Matney, Brady Matney, Barry Matney, Alvin D. Matney and Dale Houk.

Elsie Marie Lile Matney, Green County, KY (1923-2014)

Elsie Marie Lile Matney was born Tuesday, September 18, 1923 in Green County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Tony Lile and Louella Curry Lile. She departed this life Saturday, September 27, 2014 at her home in the Exie Community of Green County, having attained the age of ninety-one years and nine days.

Mrs. Matney had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Protestant Faith. She was a homemaker.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Johnnie W. Matney; five brothers and four sisters: Otis Lile, Dick Lile, Tude Lile, Jack Lile, Doodle Lile and Beulah Russell, Mozetta Meadows, Christine Thompson and Elave Edwards.

She is survived by the following:
  • Three sons and two daughters-in-law: Arnold W. and Shirley Matney of Greensburg, KY; Alvin C. and Kaye Matney of Sulphur Well, KY; and Benny Matney of Metcalfe Co., KY

  • One daughter and son-in-law: Norma L. and Wayne Keltner of Vine Grove, KY

  • Three sisters-in-law: Lois Houk, Ellen Houk and Laverne Lile all of Greensburg, KY

  • Seven grandchildren: Glenda Harlow, Regina Vincent, Marty Matney, Angela Judd, Alvin Dean Matney, Monica Shirley and Josh Matney

  • Eleven great grandchildren

  • One great-great grandchild

  • Plus a host of other relatives and friends.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Lee Cemetery Fund. These can be made at the Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home.
