She was a native of Cumberland County, KY, and a resident of the county at the time of her death. She was the daughter of the late Tyler and Leda Maupin Elliott and the widow of William Owsley, Sr. She leaves 41 direct living descendants. She was a member of Burkesville Community Church and a homemaker.

Hazel Owsley age 89 of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away on Friday, August 29, 2014 at Greenview Regional Hospital in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Funeral service will b e Saturday, September 06, 2014 at 1pmCT, at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 North Main Street, Burkesville, KY, with burial in Grundy Chapel Cemetery. Family requests visitation from 5pmCT until 9pmCT, Friday, September 05, 2014 at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home in Burkesville.



Hazel Owsley, 89, Cumberland Co., KY (1925-2014)

Hazel was born on June 29, 1925 in Cumberland County, KY. She was the daughter of the late Tyler and Leda Maupin Elliott. She died Friday, August 29, 2014, in Bowling Green, Warren County, KY, at the age of 89 years, two months.

She was a member of Burkesville Community Church and a homemaker.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Owsley, Sr.; one daughter, Landa Gail Kirk; three sisters, Mary Rowe, Cecil Twyman, and Fannie Bow; and five brothers, Tyler Elliott, Willie Elliott, Gleason Elliott, Ottis Elliott, and Frank Elliott.

Survivors Include:
  • Three daughters: Jackie Clemons and her husband Benny, Elaine Maxey and her husband Billy, and Robin Trigg and her husband Johnny all of Burkesville, KY

  • One son: William Owsley, Jr. and his wife Ann of Burkesville, KY

  • Eleven grandchildren

  • Twenty-one great grandchildren

  • Five great great grandchildren

  • and a host of other relatives and friends also survive
