Homer Forest Lands, 72, Adair County, KY (1942-2014)

He was born in Louisville, KY, and was a resident of Chicago, IL, at the time of his death. He grew up in the big house on the corner of Fairground & Wain Streets, in Columbia, KY with his sister Rebecca, and foster parents, the late Ted & Emma Richards, and attended public school here, and is remembered fondly by many classmates. He had worked as a lineman at the Nabisco Plant in Chicago, IL.

Homer Forest Lands age 72 years of Chicago, IL formerly of Adair County, KY passed away Monday night July 21, 2014 at the Mac Neal Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL.

Funeral services will be Saturday July 26, 2014 at 1pmCT, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg Street, Columbia, KY. Interment in Columbia Cemetery, 315 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY. Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in charge of funeral arrangements. Visitation after 10amCT, Saturday, July 26, 2014, until time for service

He was born on February 5, 1942 in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY. He was the son of the late Homer Ray & Della Mae Richards Lands. He died Monday, July 21, in Chicago, Cook County, IL at the age of 72 years, five months, and 19 days. He was also preceded in death by his foster parents, Theodore R. "Ted" & Emma Richards Harper Survivors include the following:
  • A daughter: Virginia Martinez of Chicago, IL

  • His companion: Pat Martinez-Garcia of Chicago, IL

  • Other children.

  • One sister: Rebecca (Jimmy) Wariner of Jamestown, KY

  • Nieces & nephew: Michael Wariner, Rhonda Hatter, Deborah Howard, and Marla Liddy

  • A host of other relatives & friends
He had worked as a lineman at the Nabisco Plant in Chicago, IL.
