Russell Co., KY collision near Font Hill, KY takes 2 lives

Two Russell Springs residents died as result of collision; Taylor County resident and Russell Countian flown to University of Kentucky Hospital. Driver of second vehicle treated and released at Russell County Hospital

RUSSELL SPRINGS, KY - Tpr. Kevin Roberts is investigating a collision that occurred today, Thursday, April 17, 2014, at approximately 05:38amCT on KY 80, 7 miles east of Russell Springs. 66-year-old Bacilio C. Salamanca of Russell Springs was operating a 2004 Pontiac when he pulled onto KY 80 from KY 76 and into the path of a 2008 Chevy pickup. The Chevy was operated by 52-year-old Scott D. Anderson of Somerset who was west bound.



Salamanca was not belted and was transported to Russell County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A passenger, 36-year-old Jose F. Otanendi of Russell Springs was not belted and pronounced dead at the scene.

25-year-old Jose Hernandez of Mannsville, Ky and 29-year-old Angel Solis of Russell Springs, were also not belted and were flown to University of Kentucky Hospital where they remain in critical condition.

Anderson was wearing a seatbelt and was treated and released at Russell County Hospital. - TFC Billy R. Gregory
