Great Decisions group meets Thursdays at Thomas D. Clark room By George Kolbenschlag If you are interested in some of the most important issues facing the world today, you may want to join a group of local residents who meet weekly to discuss international issues. The meetings are based on a Foreign Policy Association annual eight week discussion series called Great Decisions and are held at 6:30pmCTE each Thursday at the Lindsey Wilson College Library's Thomas Clark Reading Room, Katie Murrell Library, 235 Holloway Drive, Columbia, KY. The group, about ten people at present, meets in a very informal and congenial setting and discusses a new topic each week. Those who attend represent a variety of opinions, political leanings, interests and ages. The meetings are not sponsored by Lindsey Wilson College. Topics on the agenda this year include defense technology, Israel and the U.S., Turkey's challenges, Islamic awakening, energy independence, food and climate, China's foreign policy and U. S trade policy. The text for the discussion group can be purchased at the college bookstore and costs $20. The texts can easily be shared, are very useful but not mandatory and are the only cost for the program. For further information, you can contact Margo Miller (FLYTANGO@earthlink.net), George Kolbenschlag (kolbensc@gmail.com) or David Ludden (luddend@lindsey.edu.) Or you can just show up at 6:30pmCT, Thursday at the Lindsey Wilson Library Clark Reading Room.< i> - George Kolbenschlag This story was posted on 2014-02-16 13:37:45
