Ted Caldwell: Columbia should be part of Main Street Program Encourages everyone to be at next Columbia City Council meeting to support idea. Next step, Ted Caldwell says, is to get Mayor Harris to hire a half-time Main Street Manager by Ted Caldwell Personal Opinion/Commentary Columbia should be a part of the state "Main Street Program." In the past two months The State Director, Kitty Dougoud, has met with the Mayor, Ellen Zornes, President of the Adair Heritage Association, and myself. The next step is to get the Mayor to hire a half time employee to be the Main Street Manger. This will have to be supported by the City Council. Toward this goal, the Mayor has added a presentation to the Council for the next council meeting. The presenter will be Nell Haydon, the manager from Springfield, KY. Seeing the changes in Danville, Campbellsville and Greensburg should show the benefits of this program. I encourage anyone who is interested in improving the city of Columbia to attend the City Council Meeting, Tuesday, November 4, 2013 at 6pmCT. --Ted Caldwell This story was posted on 2013-10-26 09:26:24
