LWC Cycling - Men - 3rd in Pursuit at Track Cycling regionals Lindsey Wilson's David Novak wins two events. By Charles Balcom INDIANAPOLIS, IN -The Lindsey Wilson College men's cycling team finished 3rd in the pursuit event at the MidWest Collegiate Cycling Regional Championship over the September 7-8, 2013 weekend. Junior David Novak took home two wins at the event in the Collegiate Men's field on Friday. The first win came in the scratch race, a race where the first rider across the line at the end of the set number of laps wins the race. Chris Tveter placed third in the point's race where laps are designated with points and riders sprint to the finish. The rider with the most points at the end of the race wins. Novak secured his second win of the event on Saturday in the four kilometer pursuit time trial race with the fastest time of 4:59. Hannah Hayduk was the lone female to compete for Lindsey Wilson in the Collegiate Women's field. Hayduk finished 3rd in the points race and 6th in the scratch race. Novak, Tveter, Hayduk, Justin Lowe, Mikayla Lyman and Luke Lucas competed in the collegiate team sprint, a race where six riders, two female and four male, each ride one lap on the front of the group. The team finished in 4th place just 0.5 seconds behind Lindenwood (MO) University. The USA Cycling Track National Championships are set for September 19-21, 2013 in Colorado Springs, Colorado at the Colorado Springs Velodrome in Memorial Park, 250 S Union Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO.
