Sandi Wills urges help: For Peg Schaeffer, the dogs are family By Sandi Wills Personal Commentary I have known Peg Schaeffer for over 40 years. In that entire time she has been known for her kindness and professionalism towards the many animals she has rescued and rehabilitated. I find it difficult to believe that someone can be so small and petty regarding her selfless work! Columbia is a small town and Peg is well-known for her work to save dogs. It further incites me that Peg Schaeffer is operating her rescue alone, on the retirement she spent years earning for her "golden years." These are not golden years for Peg. She is up every morning, cleaning and feeding and watering her "family." Believe me that these dogs ARE her family! That work continues all day EVERY DAY! There are no days off in this business! She struggles every day to feed her dogs. Where is the Columbia Community? The Rotarians? The American Legion? The VFW? Those community organizations that profess to help their communities? Certainly all those people would be concerned if Peg\'s organization upended and those dogs were now a problem for the community! Please help SUGARFOOT RESCUE!! A dollar, five, everything is appreciated and used for the animals. Peg Schaeffer is voluntarily doing a job none of the rest of you want in your laps! - Sandi Wills Comments re article 60294 Happy Tails This story was posted on 2013-06-23 08:37:07
