Superintendent Treece explains reason for rehab

It was elective knee surgery - and he'll be out kicking up his heels very soon

Darrell Treece writes:
Ed, I had bilateral knee replacement on January 29. It was something that I have needed to do for several years. But since it was not an emergency, I would not take the time off from work.

I came to Summit Manor to rehab starting February 4 and am making slow but steady progress. The reason I decided to post this on Columbia Magazine was a conversation I heard outside my door last night. Someone saw my name on the wall and remarked to a friend, "He used to be with the school system. He must have had a heart attack or something!"

I am alive and well! Thanks for the many prayers that have been offered for my recovery and thanks to Summitt Manor for the excellent care and rehab I am receiving here.

I should be out "kicking up my heels" very soon. - Darrell Treece
Thanks, Mr. Treece for clarifying the situation, and thanks for all you did for the Adair County school infrastructure as superintendent. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. - EW
