Picking up freight, meeting Kix Brooks at Arrington Vineyards Mr. Al, the Big Rig Trucker, makes pickup at gorgeous Arrington Vineyards, gets to meet Kix Brooks of Brooks and Dunn, an owner of the vineyard. Arrington Vineyards has award winning wine. Offers free wine tastings By Big Al Owens The Big Rig Trucker Big Al is pedaling freight locally in Nashville for GFC. I am still touring and sight-seeing on a daily basis but on a different basis now. On Friday, dispatch called me and asked me to stop by 6211 Patton Road in Arrington, TN, to pick up a couple of totes at a company that is known locally as Arrington Vineyards. I arrived around 5 or so and saw many well dressed guests, I apologized for not being as well dressed since I had been delivering freight all day. I asked a worker there what was going on and she explained that they were having a Christmas party and the owner was due to be there at any moment. A couple of employees loaded my trailer with the totes and I secured them with a strap. I then proceded to go get the bill of lading and be on my way back to our home terminal so that I could start my Christmas holiday reprieve with my girlfriend Suzanne and family. I was standing with an employee while another employee located my necessary paperwork when a black Range Rover pulled up, I immediately recognized the occupant as being none other than Kix Brooks of the most awarded CMA country duo Brooks and Dunn. The employee informed me that Kix was the owner of Arrington Vineyards. He is actually 1 of 3 owners of this beautifully landscaped 75 acre wine country. The Vineyard was started in 2004, and opened in July of 2007. There are 14 different varieties of award winning wine offered. Arrington has free wine tastings and gorgeous surroundings any time of year that you would like to visit. I was introduced to Kix and had a conversation with him. Mr. Brooks told me that he liked and appreciated a hard working man when I apologized for being under-dressed and dirty. Mr. Brooks also gladly obliged when I asked to have a photograph with him. He also was very kind to me. I thanked him as I left and was very happy to have met this Hard Working Man. --Big Al Owens This story was posted on 2012-12-23 01:00:37
