COLUMBIA, KY - The Lindsey Wilson College community recently honored a retired Kentucky educator for his efforts to promote higher education in his community.

Dale Whitaker recently retired from a 31-year career at Rockcastle County High School in Mount Vernon, Ky., and LWC honored his legacy by placing a brick paver in the Lindsey Wilson Alumni & Friends Walkway with a special paver.

The Lindsey Wilson Alumni & Friends Walkway connects the college's John B. Begley Chapel with the L.R. McDonald Administration Building.

Whitaker started teaching in 1981-82 as a science and health teacher and then was a guidance counselor for the next 27 years.

Whitaker reckons that he helped almost 100 Rockcastle County High School students attend the liberal arts college.

"Working with Lindsey Wilson College was always a pleasure," he said. "Lindsey Wilson has done a tremendous job of preparing students for their career and life in general. They have made tremendous strides in becoming one of the best postsecondary institutions in the state." - Duane Bonifer
