CM Site Note: Yes, photos with advertising can be run

CM's Full Color, Full Page Equivalent Photo Ads - as low as $100/4 hours
What's Free - What's Paid on CM

ColumbiaMagazine.com does accept photos with staged advertising - product placement - as paid advertising.

An advertising photo can be posted in the photo archives for as little as $30 per month - and, at our option, may be held in the archives indefinitely. It would be clearly marked "Sponsored," or "Advertising."

Front page full color advertising photo(s) are available, also. This is CM's Full Page Newspaper Equivalent ad position and the rate is $100 for guaranteed 4 hours on the front page.

A general guideline of product placement in submitted photos includes but is not limited to: Staged signs, dot.coms, political messages, photos with advertising signs in the background, handbills, flyers, staged product placement, apparel advertising, outdoor advertising, yard or street signs. These are eligible for posting, but as Paid Advertising, and would be marked as such.

Occasionally, product placement in inadvertent is unposed, news or feature stories and would be posted. An example could be a sign in the background of a fire or accident - though staging, such as in sports action pictures, would mean the photo is advertising.

And yes, on some coordinated Adair County Way charitable endeavors, when commercial entities go above and beyond to promote the spirit of giving, we actually encourage recognizing the public spirited firms.

Generally, for other guerilla advertising tactics, CM uses a ratio or "the widow's mite" method to determine whether product or sign or imprinted material is free. A $100 scholarship from a large enterprise would mean that the photo's advertising value in CM is worth as much as the gift, and it would be run. On the other hand, if it's a kid's $3.67 gift, it would be news.

And, just a reminder, CM is a business. Though fees and charges are kept highly affordable, we are trying to make a living - (but not a killing). We greatly appreciate the almost total respect for fair play among those who regularly utilize the resource.
