Persson scores twice to lead LW Women's Soccer to 5-0 win at Rio Grande By Chris Wells News from Lindsey Wilson College RIO GRANDE, OHIO - Four different Blue Raiders scored as the Lindsey Wilson College women's soccer team beat host University of Rio Grande, 5-0 today at Evan E. Davis Field. Mia Persson scored twice while Katarina Simic, Cecilia Ekstrand and Elisha Fry each found the back of the net in the win. No. 3 Lindsey Wilson out-shot the RedStorm (4-7, 1-4 in the Mid-South Conference) 33-2, including 16-2 in shots on goal. The Blue Raiders (7-2-1, 4-0) run their winning streak to five straight with the win. Simic started the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 13th minute to take the 1-0 lead. Persson doubled the lead less than a minute later off a Saeda Sueki assist for the 2-0 lead. The Blue Raiders took their 2-0 lead into the half. Ekstrand scored her second goal in as many games and her third of the season at the 47:47 mark off Laerke Lillelund Michaelsen's first of two assists on the night. Continuing the theme of quick scores following a score, Persson scored her ninth goal of the season at the 49:19 mark for the 4-0 lead. Michaelsen added her second assist of the day and her team-best sixth of the season on the Persson goal. Fry capped the scoring in the 86th minute to give the Blue Raiders the 5-0 lead and eventual win. This story was posted on 2012-09-29 20:04:13
