Hurd's Golden Goal sends LWC Women's Soccer to 2-1 Win No. Three Women's Soccer Team wins with Golden Goal - the term used in soccer for the tie breaking goal in overtime matches - in victory at Indiana Wesleyan, Marion, IN. Next home game By Chris Wells Sports news from Lindsey Wilson College MARION, IN - Lindsey Wilson College's Renee Hurd scored a golden goal in the 96th minute to help the No. 3-ranked Blue Raiders to a 2-1 overtime win today over host Indiana Wesleyan University. Hurd -- who scored her first career Lindsey Wilson goal -- scored from a corner kick to help the Blue Raiders improve to 2-1-1 on the season. The corner was the Blue Raiders' 10th of the game compared to just one for the Wildcats. Despite out-shooting the Indiana Wesleyan 20-6 in the match, Lindsey Wilson needed some late-goal heroics to force the extra time. Indiana Wesleyan's Katie Pannabecker scored on a Jessie Craig assist in the game's ninth minute to give the Wildcats (4-1) the 1-0 lead. The score remained intact until the 86th minute when Elisha Fry netted her second goal of the season to tie the game at 1-1. Prior to the goal, Indiana Wesleyan's Rachel Fulkerson had stymied the Blue Raiders with five saves. In the extra time, the Blue Raiders controlled the play as Lindsey Wilson out-shot IWU 4-0 including the Hurd goal. Lindsey Wilson's Josephine Frigge finished with a pair of saves while allowing just one goal. - Chris Wells This story was posted on 2012-09-09 05:34:16
