Pray for Westlake: Ask God for a miracle

Says 'It is sickening to me to think that after everything we have put into this hospital, someone would even suggest taking the brunt of this out on all the employees, rather than looking at who is getting paid to do a whole lot of nothing." - NICOLE BELL

Writer's personal commentary

Please, everyone pray for our hospital. Major changes are being proposed, ones that will greatly impact the employees, their families, and our ability to provide quality care to our patients. Please pray that a miracle happens, that funds are provided that can keep our hospital going. Otherwise, the hospital will either close, or will stay open at the expense of the employees that have poured their hearts and souls into keeping it open.

We have fought, scratched, clawed, cried, stressed, and cried some more, all in the hope that we stay open one more month, one more week, one more day.

According to Craig Pyles, we don't have days, we have hours. He suggests we lay off 30-35 employees, cut benefits, plus cut our pay 10-15%.

This would include employees who barely make minimum wage and work harder than most higher ups. It is sickening to me to think that after everything we have put into this hospital, someone would even suggest taking the brunt of this out on all the employees, rather than looking at who is getting paid to do a whole lot of nothing.

I am mad, I am hurt, and I am not planning to take it lying down. I love my Westlake family. My Admissions/DSH girls, and my extended people in billing/medical records, you are all like family to me. I cannot stand the thought of them taking the little that we get and cutting it even further.

So please, please, when you say your prayers tonight, tomorrow, or whenever you say them, ask God to bring a miracle for us. We need our hospital, and we need our employees to be treated fairly. Thanks. - Nicole Bell
