No injuries in 3 vehicle collision, but 1 driver faces DUI charges

Accident occurs on South Central Avenue, Campbellsville, KY at 3:45pmET, Wednesday, August 1, 2012. Besides DUI, George M. Anderson, 34, Campbellsville, KY, also faces charge for failing to maintain proper insurance.

The Campbellsville Police Department (CPD) investigated a three vehicle collision on KY 70 (South Central Avenue), Wednesday, August 1, 2012.

The CPD received a report of a three car collision at 3:45pmET, at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and KY 70.



A vehicle operated by Thomas Wheeler of Mannsville was stopped in an attempt tomake a left turn from KY 70 onto Lincoln Avenue. A second vehicle operated by JamesRose and occupant Frank Tucker, both of Campbellsville, KY, were also travelling north onKY 70 and had stopped behind the Wheeler vehicle awaiting the turn.

A third vehicle operated by George M. Anderson - age 34 - of Campbellsville was also travelling north on KY 70. The Anderson vehicle failed to stop, striking the Tucker vehicle, which subsequently struck the Wheeler vehicle. There were no reported injuries.

Campbellsville Police Officer Charlie Houk responded to the scene. Upon investigating the collision, OfficerHouk observed Anderson, who gave appearance he was impaired. Furtherexamination provided Officer Houk probable cause to believe Anderson was operatinghis vehicle under the influence and placed Anderson under arrest.

Anderson was lodged in the Taylor County Regional Jail for Operating a Motor VehicleUnder the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs - 2nd offense and Failure of Owner to MaintainRequired Insurance 1st offense.
