Officer involved in shooting of robbery suspect identified

Injured man was suspect in robbery with firearm of Pilot truck stop (Bing Map/Directions) at Sonora, KY, 55 miles NW of Columbia, KY

LOUISVILLE, KY (July 29,2012) - The KSP officer involved in the early morning shooting of an armed robbery suspect has been identified.

The Kentucky State Police confirms that officer Jared Newberry with the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement division was the officer that fired his weapon in an attempt to arrest an armed robbery suspect (Aaron Hart).



Mr. Hart of Hodgenville was shot and injured this morning on I-65 north at the Watterson Expressway following a robbery at a Pilot truck stop in Sonora,KY with a firearm.

Officer Newberry has been employed with the Kentucky State Police for 1 1/2 years, and at this time is on leave per KSP policy pending the investigation.
