Even though I did not win the vote total I feel like a victor in this campaign. I was uplifted by the words of encouragement and support I received everywhere I went. - MARK F. POLSTON

Dear Citizens:

To all of my friends and supporters in Adair, Casey, Pulaski and Russell counties I want to express a heartfelt thank you to each of you who voted for me for State Senator in the May 22nd primary. Even though I did not win the vote total I feel like a victor in this campaign. I was uplifted by the words of encouragement and support I received everywhere I went. Old acquaintances were renewed and I made many new friends while campaigning. Many of you shared my vision for a strong Kentucky and worked very hard for my candidacy. For all these reasons I am proud and humbled.

I want to especially thank Danny Voils and Coy Bray, who were among the first to approach me and ask me to become a candidate, I appreciate the confidence you showed in me by asking me to run for this office. I've learned many things and this experience has made me a bolder advocate for the things in which I believe. I also want to thank Sen. Vernie McGaha for his support and advice and Todd Hoskins for being a statesman and supporting my candidacy. Both of them went out on a limb for me when they didn't have to, I will be forever grateful. To the voters of Adair, Casey and Russell counties thank you for the overwhelming support you gave to me, I am thankful for your trust. To the voters of Pulaski county thank you for allowing me the opportunity to seek this office, I appreciate those who voted for me and trust those who didn't still consider me a friend and patriot.

For months we worked hard to see as many of you as we could. If I was unable to see you please know it wasn't because I didn't want to, time would simply not allow me to go everywhere and see everyone. My family worked tirelessly in this campaign and I will never forget their unselfishness or labor of love for me.

Congratulations to Chris Girdler, who will serve as our next State Senator. I wish you the best and trust that you will serve the 15th District with compassion and care. I also congratulate my friend, A.C. Donahue who ran a passionate campaign.

I have been heartened and saddened by this campaign, heartened that so many gave so much and worked so hard for each of the candidates in whom they believed; saddened that so few avail themselves of the opportunity, no responsibility, to take part in the process of electing our leaders. But as Winston Churchill said, "It has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried."

Best Wishes,

- Mark F. Polston
