The Big Event today: Hospital Board Meeting What's going on at the Westlake Regional Hospital? Answers may come after today's Special Called meeting. AGENDA There's a lot of speculation about the Special Called Meeting of the Adair County Hospital Board of Trustees meeting today at 11:30amCT at the Board Room of Westlake Regional Hospital, 901 Westlake Drive, Columbia, KY. The entire agenda is two Executive Session (Secret) items, one agenda item relative to the sale or 'strategic partner' plan, the other item with personnel. The community is wondering if an announcement will come about a sale or partnership arrangement. That might be answered today. In a recent radio interview, Adair County CJE Ann Melton said that she is giving the Spectrum Health Partners until May 15, 2012, to come up with an acceptable buyer or partnership agreement - but did not indicate exactly what would be done should that time comes if they fail. The question on personnel seems to center on whether the Board will hire a local physician with skills in attracting patients to the Hospital's network of primary cares and increase patient counts (disastrously low in February 2012 under present management) or even of putting local physicians in charge of management. There's also speculation - but only speculation - on who the buyer or so-called 'strategic partner' might be. There's a possibility that a major announcement could follow today's executive sessions. -Ed Waggener. This story was posted on 2012-04-02 09:31:48
