COLUMBIA, KY - Area residents are invited to help Lindsey Wilson College and Cafe on the Square celebrate Black History Month. LWC and the restaurant are teaming up to sponsor "Soul Night," a night of history and entertainment at 6pmCT on Monday, February 27, 2012 at Cafe on the Square, 212 Public Square, Columbia, KY.

Area residents are invited to participate in the open-microphone night by singing songs, reading poetry or playing an instrument. Pieces performed should relate to Black History Month or themes of justice, equality and human rights.

One of the performers will be Re-Shae Barnes of Somerset, KY, who recently won the 2012 "Lindsey Wilson Idol" competition.

The Cafe will provide complimentary coffee, tea and lemonade during the event.

"Our doors are always open, but we wanted to do something special in honor of Black History Month," said Kellis Booth of Cafe on the Square.

For more information about the night, contact LWC Director of Student Activities Jayne Hopkins at hopkinsj@lindsey.edu or 270-384-8033.
